An Update on the Country Karaoke Idol Contest...

    Friday, October 10, 2008, 10:05 PM CST [Personal/Fun Blogs]

I unfortunately was eliminated tonight.  The first round too.  Ugh...Now I'm irritated. =[  I know it's not that big a deal, it was just for fun.  But I really want to do things with my singing, and when I can't even go far in a just for fun contest, it's really disheartening.

    In Search of Frogs

Friday, October 10, 2008, 11:02 PM EST [General]

In order to start kissing frogs, one must find frogs. So, in search of frogs I am. I suppose that I could go out more with the girls, and meet men out at a club. While I have had some luck this way in the past, I feel that my past bar hopping conquests weren't ever quite long term material. I don't know perhaps it's the late hour, the alcohol, or my competitive nature, but I never feel like keeping that evening's conquest past the morning cup of coffee. Yes, I would serve them coffee.

Now, as most of you reading this know, I now live with my mother and this situation also puts a damper on evenings of rompery. Yes, I just made up the word rompery! Having to come home to a house with a 64 year old woman, doesn't really make you want to go out looking for someone. It makes things slower to start between the two of you. Perhaps, its not such a bad thing, as I am looking for a real relationship this time instead of the night's company. But the question still remains, where to find frogs?

I will revert to single days of old. Where schedule conflicts, long hours of classes, and working when not in class, all lead me to online dating. Of course, this was all back in the day when Yahoo! Personals and Match.com were king. I was single in Buffalo, and wanted to meet anyone who wasn't a law student, lawyer, or in any way related to the law. These websites allowed me to expose all the other facets of my personality that didn't involve school, not to mention meet new people. I always refer to this time as the era where I sowed my oats, making reference to how men have always been encourage to sow their oats before getting married. And, that's just what I did! I went on dates, had casual sex, developed **** buddies, and explored new frontiers in my own sexuality. Let's just say I'm not shocked by anything, and if I haven't tried it yet, bring it on!

Therefore, I return to Match.com and Yahoo! Personals time and time again. Typically, I am able to find someone to suit my needs at that time, but I have to spice it up. Where to go next? Enlisting the help of friends and coworkers, I also join Singlesnet.com, SantaMatch.com, Chemistry.com, and Amor.com. Lots of new options for venues, and loads of frogs to draw from, what new online adventures can arise.

    Pilot Blog

Friday, October 10, 2008, 10:58 PM EST [General]

As many of you know, I became single in July. The breakup was difficult and, to many people, unbelievable. How could such a happy couple no longer be together? What went wrong? And, in the case of some of my beloved family member, what did Mary do?

But, the truth is nothing went wrong. Things were great. I was happy. We were just not each other's partner for life. We had different priorities, different tastes, and different visions for the future. While he wanted to “gamble on our future” and stay together to see what would happen, I walked away.

I chose to start fresh and look for someone new, someone who would want the similar tastes, similar priorities, and a together share a single vision for the future. Of course, I don't expect to find someone overnight, and, as the saying goes, you have to kiss a lot of frogs. So here, in this medium, I will share my frog kissing.

    The Night Chorus

Friday, October 10, 2008, 10:52 PM EST [General]

I drove home slowly up the hollow along the creek where the brilliant shades of autumn were glistening from an unusually warm sunny October day. I watched for animals as a matter of habit. Deer are pretty unless they are running in front of your car. No deer but I saw a fox dart across the road with a what looked like a rodent in its mouth. Hawks circled up on the stripped part of the mountain and birds were singing everywhere. Leaves danced in the wake of my car's passing, rising up in the air, swirling and setting back down. Going home is sweet on days like this.

Just at dusk I went out to the edge of the woods where it meets the yard. The moon was standing over two thirds full above the trees. Stars were shining with that particular intensity you only see in mountains or lightless deserts. I was there honor all I love so I sung a short sacred song to the mountain, to the Aesir and Vanir, to the spirits that dwell all around me. The forest was alive with the sounds of night creatures like the owl and woodcock and the insects. No sound of humans anywhere around me. I love nights like this when it seems like I am the lone human on the earth.  I have a low, deep voice...an alto throughout all my life. I raised my voice in a welcoming song loudly so it echoed slightly in the forest then I stopped, feeling the response of the earth spirits and my Old Ones. I was about to continue when up on the mountain, a chorus began of coyotes. It sounded like there were maybe four or five but then another pack started from somewhere beyond the orchard. Across the creek where the woods start up another mountain, yet another pack joined. They became quiet so I sang again the sacred song. When I stopped, they picked it up again, this time with the orchard pack beginning the chorus then the others joining in. There was no other sound when either me or coyote sang. Even the insects had stopped their chirping sounds and the owls fell silent.  We did this for all of twenty minutes then, I felt the need to quit. I listened but no more howls came so I took my flute to the porch and played awhile. Dogs barked on up the hollow, insects chirped and the Great Horned Owl called but no coyotes. When I finished my flute playing, I was about to go in when I heard the howl of one lone coyote far away up the mountain. "Good night," I said to her as I went inside.

This is the essence of Hedgewitchery. This is connection with living earth all around me and with the Divine pantheon of Beings that touch my life each and every day. Coyotes are something I detest as a human being. They are efficient and sly predators, killing a domestic dog as easily as a deer. They make no distinction among the meat they seek. Yet, tonight they were responding to something in me and I was responding to them. We were two wary predators bound in some temporary kindred feeling. Maybe it is the time of year or the beauty of the night but I felt tapped into something bigger than anything I could understand. Knowing some things are beyond my comprehension is also part of Hedgewitchery because it teaches me acceptance. I will never be complacent but acceptance is a survival skill, both mundanely and magickally. What a wonderful gift....this moment of "awe"!

    Life is good.

    UNA GUERRERA MAS

Friday, October 10, 2008, 10:49 PM EST [General]

    ¡ SOY ESA,

    No existe...

    la envidia es eso: envidia?

Soy la que cree que si todos ponemos Amor.,

    nuestra esencia por naturaleza

    lograremos un mundo mejor.

Si quieren unite, dale , te espero !!!!....

    Necesitamos máss guerreros/as ....

Los que estamos, solos no podemos

    pero lo seguimos inentando;

pues aunque no cambiemos el mundo

tocamos algun corazón y eso ya vale...

    Si queres no dudes...

    No duden

    Anímense.

    Sean guerreros/as.

    Los espero como tantos mas

    los esperan....

    No soy la única....

    29 Gifts

Friday, October 10, 2008, 10:43 PM EST [General]

I came across the notice below and found myself intrigued...reminded me of the movie Pass It Forward.  At any rate, I thought I'd pass it on as a way of spreading something good, encouraging my friends to write (even if we don't send anything in, it would be nice to give out something positive for 29 days, huh?)  Maybe this will counter a bit of the terrible, negative, hate-filled-pettiness we've been over-dosed with in the last few weeks through the media ....so, check it out, and pass it on.....

    Fancy Vaginas

Friday, October 10, 2008, 09:40 PM CST [General]

On my way to get a few things at Target today I drove by a nicely painted sign that said "Koozbella Boutique" propped up against a stop sign and another shortly after directing the way. Koozbella? I was really tempted to go because when I saw  "Koozbella" all painted in fancy curly lettering all I could think was that it sounds like a word for a fancy vagina and I know if I went to check out the boutique I would be horribly dissapointed because there would be no bejeweled and feathered fancy vaginas.

I really needed a good chuckle since I sorta kinda got laid off from my new job. Basically I'm working on commission now until business picks up. Unfortuantly there is no commissions coming in at the moment. My boss made me a very fair offer of letting me have 100% of what does come in until it's really steady business and asked me to do this huge favor for him.

I thought Big was going to totally freak out about this....Not in the least. He was more upset that the money we are getting back from our current place will go towards rent now rather than his new uber tv. I'm so happy to have such a calm husband, really the only thing he gets upset about is when get DVD's from netflix that skip. I'm the one who panics about the big stuff.

And I was with us moving in a couple weeks. Thaxt was my immediate concern. I could have gone out and got a crappy retail job no problem that would cover it, but the last time I tried working an extra job doing retail my ankle and it's issues couldn't handle it. Luckily I have the greatest parents in the world who while don't have much themselves were willing to loan us a months rent so I have time to get some income.

The final decision with the job was to try doing the commission thing for a couple months to see if it pans out and contact some temp agencies to get some contract work in the geek field. I hope my current position works out. Working at home has c
